Frequently Asked Questions

Will your Spray Tan turn ME orange?

You will no doubt heard of DHA; the active ingredient in spray tanning solution. The colour you 'turn', will all depend on the percentage of DHA in the solution. Any solution containing more than 11% will have a chance of you turning orangy-brown. As the tan fades, the more the 'orange-ness' sets in (due to the higher DHA). The orange-ness is a dead give-away or tell-tale sign one has had a spray tan.

At the Tanning Club, we do not use any solution above 11%.

However, some clients demand a very, very brown tan. The final colour you turn is dependent on your particular skin colour. At EVERY spray tan session we conduct a CONSULTANCY to determine your natural tanning colour and the colour YOU want. We can achieve a darker colour (if you wish) by adding tanning drops to our solutions. This is NOT a problem for us to do, however clients must realize the higher the DHA the greater the chance of being 'orange' once the tanning begins to fade.

The Tanning Club specializes in giving its clients a natural brown / suntan look - NOT an instant "You've been in the Sahara Desert for six weeks and baked " -look!

Note the colour difference between Liz and Donnatella (right). Which one has been 'over-tanned'?

No celebrity continuously on television or in the public eye wants this type of 'fake tan look'. Celebrities, movie stars, TV presenters, models and so forth seek a natural, healthy image. This is exactly what we provide (hence we are so much in demand!)

Not all spray tans are created equal. If the price of the tan is cheap, there is a very good chance your tan will look cheap, it will not last and more-than-likely, you'll end up having an 'orange glow'!

All Spray Tans are the same - they only last a few days.

No and Yes.

Cheap spray tans WILL only last literally a few days. However, what you do to your skin before AND after your spray tan will also make a difference.

The cheaper the spray tan the quicker it will more likely disappear. Cheaper ingredients (chemicals) in the solution allows for salons and technicians to offer a cheaper price; £10.00 - £15.00.

Realistcally one should pay between £20.00 to £25.00 for a BASIC spray tan and between £25.00 to £30.00 for a HOLISTIC spray tan.

See the section on TIPS ON A LASTING TAN for more detailed information.
