Dihydroxyacetone( di-hy-droxy-acetone) (DHA) is the active ingredient in spray tanning solution. The spray tan is not a dye, stain or paint, but a chemical reaction between the DHA and the AMINO ACIDS in the dead layer on the skin surface. The tan is temporary and will fade gradually over 3 to 10 days - depending on which spray tan solution one uses. The 'cheaper' the spray tan, the sooner the tan will fade. Your pre- and post- care regime also will determine how long your spray tan will last.

We're not all scientists or chemists, but knowing what goes on our skin is important. On this website where ever there is a technical term or an unusual ingredient (such as dha, Parabens and so forth), we try to explain what it is in layman terms.
If there is something you are not sure about and want explaining, please do not hesitate to contact us. |
